Subsidy Claims and Documentation
Common Documentation Gaps in Subsidy Claims
The reasons claims are cut or rejected that have nothing to do with eligibility.
Most subsidy claims that fail do not fail on eligibility. They fail on evidence. The department can only count what the file proves, in the form the policy prescribes. These are the gaps we see most.
Investment evidence
Payments in cash or without a clear bank trail; invoices that do not match the chartered engineer's certificate; GST included in the eligible amount; second-hand, ineligible or pre-cutoff-date items included; land valued above the permitted share or without the prescribed proof.
Certificates
Chartered engineer and chartered accountant certificates not in the prescribed format, or certifying figures that differ from the invoices and the bank statements.
Dates
In-principle approval sought after commercial production; the production date not evidenced as the policy requires; the claim filed outside the window.
Conditions
Employment records that cannot show the domicile proportions; a women-entrepreneur claim without the ownership and workforce evidence; a route election affidavit missing or inconsistent with the claim.
The fix
Build the claim file from the first purchase, not after production. When a claim has already been cut or rejected, the grounds are usually curable through correction, representation or appeal, provided the deadline is met.
